Katharine Registered Posts: 3 | Run-time error "339" I just downloaded the game today and every time I attempt to play the game an error comes up. Run-time error '339': Component 'DMC2.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. If anyone can help me solve this problem, thanks a bunch! | ||||||

Duamutef Aspiring God of Vore  Administrator Posts: 72 | While I'm unfortunately not in a position to fix that right now (the version I have now will require quite a bit more work before it will be ready for release, and I'm actually working on other projects right now). However, there is a solution, albeit an imperfect one; the older beta versions shouldn't require DMC2. I think only beta 3 and above are even supposed to have it, but that fucking file manages to screw everything I do somehow... But anyway. The first thing you might want to try is to register DMC2.ocx manually. First, you need to find where it actually is (it should either be in your windows directory or in the game directory). Then, whichever spot you find it in, copy it to the other (from game directory to windows directory or vice-versa) so that there will be one in both locations. Then go to "run" in the start menu and type "regsvr32 (path to DMC2)" For example, "regsvr32 C:WindowsDMC2.ocx" It may ignore you, though, because that ankle-biting buggerestival of a file has this overwhelming dread of actually acknowledging it's own existance. So there's a plan B: Download an earlier beta that doesn't have it. Honestly, I didn't think ANY of the betas had it, because I was avoiding it like it was fucking AIDS because it breaks every project it's in. Nonetheless, it apparently snuck in somewhere... Anyway, you can try running 2.12 without the 2.14 update. If that doesn't work, try running 1.21: http://www.sdcga.com/~duam9/CartomancerBeta1_21Install.exe | ||||||

I'm getting a new computer by the end of this month though so I'll try and install it again then. Thanks anyway Duamutef, you're a great auther btw. ^^ | ||||||
